Arttitude Effort for Better Living

Dry tree leaves stand 3 feet tall at the back door, leading to the exhibition area with mural drawings, showcasing wars between trees and pollution infected factories, bottles of mineral water used that are dependant on the branches, arranged to form such powerful messages. Beyond that lies 16 white boards, 2-meters-high which are divided into 3 rows, constructed in zig-zag shapes, another 8 of them are created to form a cross. It was the setting for the exhibition area of Arttitude, the first event from the student of FSRD (Fine art  and design faculty), Institut Seni Indonesia Denpasar which also known as the Indonesian Institute of Art Denpasar, Bali.

Arttitude Effort for Better LivingBehind the exhibit area reveals a variety of Bazzar areas- both for sponsors, committees, and friends from several distributions, including Bali””s local clothing where they have merchandises for sell. We also invited friends from the Bali Collaboration for Climate Change to help them with their campaign for the World Silent Day (www.worldsilentday.org). The font area, otherwise known as the entertainment area is for inspiring seminars and workshops, as well as the performing stage for the creative Bali indie musicians. Monday, 15th February 2010, a day after the Lunar New Year and Valentine, after a day full of a million set of pink, we made the exhibition greener then ever. Located in the Denpasar Junction Mall, Bali. Arttitude was officially opened by the President of Insitut Seni Indonesia Denpasar,  and ran until 21st February 2010.

Paper Recycling Workshop

We didn””t let the visitors return home with no creative knowledge after visiting arttitude exhibitions. Each day there were many creative and inspiring events. On the second day we provide a large bucket of mashed papers which was soaked in water and transformed into pulp, ground cloth, sponge ropes, clotheslines and clothing pins to dry paper cycles and there was no better man then Jensi Sartinas, who helped tutor the workshop.

Words From the Masters

Arttitude Effort for Better LivingCreative ideas will not come from the formal atmosphere, that””s why we provided big green sofas that were feet shaped, and simple sofas with  high backs, thanks to Anggun and Yogi, from Interior design major who were willing to lend them to Arttitude :D , unique sofas they were my friends. On the third day, in cooperation with PPPI (Persatuan Perusahaan Periklanan Indonesia), a union of advertising companies  in Indonesia and ADGI Bali chapter, held a seminar with the title “Creative  Social Advertising Campaign”, an interesting seminar with Egy Junaedi, creative director of HakuhudoAd. provided unique ideas about how the social campaign can be interesting and fund-efficient, but also create large impact. Another was from Eko Prabowo, a consultant designer of desainEko, at the end of his presentation, he told us to forget all of things he presented, ignore them, and encourage us to create better and new ideas.

Brush and Flush

Who is not familiar with brushes in photoshop? Using brushes more than usual? In day four we had Putu Ebo as our guests, a cartoonist from Bali and the founder of BogBog Magazine (all-cartoon content magazine). With his laptop and a tablet pen, he began his tutorials of the new-brush making, brush management, and how to use brush appropriately.

Musical Poetry vs. Low Rider Bikes

Arttitude Effort for Better LivingThe last three days was the most exciting of days! It began with successful poetry musicals at the centre stage. Poetry musical is intoned poetry, reading poetry by providing rhythm, accompanied by instruments music, and performed with the group. There were 12 groups that day and each of them brought  their own supporters, which made the mall became even crowded than the previous days. Next to the Bazzar area, a dozen Low Rider Bikes was neatly lined up, complete with decorations and the base bike, they contained bones, camouflage patterned, polished chromes. The Low Rider Bikes contest was judged in the afternoon by Keduk, artists and graphic design students, and finally Eka from Superman Is Dead. The day was closed by Bali indie bands performance: No Fast Difference, Icecream Attack, Painfull by Kisses, Foreplay, and Discotion Pill with accompanied acoustic performances.

The Last Few Days

Arttitude Effort for Better Living

At 15:05 pm, the trash box mural contest began, 14 participants were ready for paintings and spray paints which was prepared for each individual. Meanwhile in the stage area, audiences were excited in waiting for the winner announcement from the past contests. And when the sun began to replace the night, noises from indie bands began to appear- huge applauses were elevated for Bullhead, Papronic and Psychofun.

The last day of the exhibition were filled by drawing competitions and coloring for kindergarten-elementary school children. After all the winners were mentioned, a huge indie party began, opened by dKantin, followed by Tolbandtoll, Scared of Bums and last but not least, the most awaited band- Superman is Dead!

Artitude was a great success and inpiring exhibition. Hopefully we””ll see you again at the next arttitude:)
